Further Education (Post Leaving Certificate) Courses

Grennan College offers four Further Education((Post Leaving Certificate) Courses:

  • Art, Craft, Design(Grennan Mill Craft School)
  • Business Studies/Secretarial(Reception and Tourism)
  • Horticulture (in partnership with Kilkenny County Council and Woodstock Gardens)
  • Equine Studies and Horsemanship

These courses are offered on a full-time or part-time basis and consist of a mixture of practical vocational skills, academic work and work experience. They are generally of one year’s duration and cover a wide range of subject areas. They are desinged towards skilled employment and, as such, are closely linked to industry and its needs and also offer students excellent opportunities to access Third Level and other related courses.

Business Studies/Secretarial (Reception and Tourism)

This is a one year full-time programme which provides students with skills and knowledge to work as a receptionist and other positions in the tourism industry and office environment.

This two year full-time programme is designed to give students an insight into the design and making of craftwork. The course aims, under the guidance of specialised teachers, to equip students with the skills to enable them to make a decision about a possible future in craft. The course is further complemented by a series of visiting lecturers on a broad range of craft/art related subjects, visits to exhibitions and field trips.
